I originally tried the vegetarian diet for weight loss. It was all the rage in the early 2000's when Oprah decided to try a vegetarian diet for 30 days. Then after reading the "Skinny Bitch" book, I decided to try it for 30 days as well. I immediately loved the lifestyle, and the more educated I became about all the positive things associated with vegetarian living, such as the ways animals are treated and the positive effects vegetarianism has on our environment, the easier it made it for me to never look back!
While I loved the lifestyle, the only problem was that after the first two or three weeks, I wasn't experiencing weight loss. I had always enjoyed fruits and vegetables, and I wasn't one of those new vegetarians who only ate junk food to replace animal products. I started my vegetarian diet at 30 years old, and over the next decade or so, I was actually slowly gaining weight. Part of this I attributed to natural aging and hormones.
Throughout my decade as a vegetarian, I tried quite a few "diets". I found that nothing really catered to vegetarians and that it was actually really difficult to modify almost anything to suit a vegetarian diet successfully. Fortunately, six months before my 50th birthday, I came across 131Method. What happened next blew me away!
The program is full of what I found to be shocking new concepts, ideas that were totally the opposite of anything I had learned in the past, and the recipes they offered as options for the plan (you don't have to use any of their recipes, ever!) included things like tempeh and tofu! Up until that point, I had never heard a diet plan mention tempeh. While this isn't strictly a vegetarian plan, but one that allows for all types of eating styles, the only meats they ever suggest are ones that are wild and grass fed.
At no point did I feel like my vegetarian values would be questioned. plan is nick named "the Study of One" and it really focuses on what will work for you as an individual based on your preferences and health history. I knew almost immediately that if I was able to truly commit, this would be the "anti diet" that would change everything for me.
I had results almost immediately, more energy, clearer thinking, better skin, and weight loss! While everyone's plan will look different and everyone's results will be different, I ended up losing 22 pounds in my first four weeks! From there, I went on to lose a total of the 50 pounds I was wanting to lose to hit my goal, plus a few more. At the time of this post, I have easily kept the weight off for over a year, I have remained totally vegetarian, of course, and I feel better than ever!
me, 6 months difference
UPDATE: I have since become an ambassador for 131Method, as I feel like it would be just rude of me not to share this program! I can't express the joy I feel while watching others have the same success. If you would like more information, or have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, follow me on social media, and/or sign up for my newsletter.
